The theme interview team recorded the vivid practice of green and low-carbon development by visiting high-end, high-quality and high-tech new energy enterprises in Yancheng, such as Chint New Energy, a leading enterprise of photovoltaic modules, Canadian Solar, a leading enterprise of electric equipment, and Goldwind, a leading manufacturer of wind turbines.

In recent years, Yancheng has made every effort to promote the whole industrial chain layout of wind power and the cluster development of solar photovoltaic industry by gathering nearly 200 new energy enterprises, making its production capacity of crystalline silicon photovoltaic cells and modules rank first in the country, so that it has become the first batch of new energy demonstration cities in the country.

“In terms of industrial layout, we have promoted the strategic emerging industries of new generation electronic information, new energy and equipment manufacturing, and new energy vehicle components, with an annual output value of 45 billion yuan so as to continuously promote the transformation and upgrading of industrial structure towards high-end, intelligent, and green growth”, Wang Lu, Director of the Development and Reform Commission of Dafeng District, Yancheng, said.

In the wind power and fishery complementary industrial base located in the coastal economic development zone, the three-dimensional development model of wind power generation, photovoltaic utilization and aquaculture has promoted the efficient use of mudflat resources, making the annual power generation of nearly 100 million kilowatt hours equivalent to reducing consumption of 40000 tons of standard coal and reducing sulfur dioxide emissions of 3000 tons.

The Tiaozini Wetland is a key supply area on the migration route of migratory birds from East Asia to Australia. Through the collaborative protection mechanism of "government+alliance+association+volunteers", more than 410 bird species are now recorded here.

Yancheng has also relied on the "international wetland" to promote culture, tourism, and health, ensuring that ecological gains are transformed into development advantages so as to have carved out a sustainable development path that integrates wetland ecological protection into urban development.

“We need to make the sample a model. Whenever it involves ecological protection, we use a natural based approach to scientifically and effectively protect it”, Lv Hongtao, Director of Dongtai Coastal Economic Zone Management Committee, Secretary of the Party Working Committee, said.

In the future, Yancheng will take the construction of a green and low-carbon development demonstration zone as the overall focus, coordinate the overall economic and social development, and showcase its ecological charm and development vitality as an "international wetland and coastal green city".
